A real treat for all rhubarb lovers, now you can enjoy succulent, sweet stems from September to November. Livingstone is the first autumn cropping variety, it’s a British-bred strain that has had its summer dormancy eliminated which causes all other rhubarb to stop cropping by the middle of summer. This means that for the first time, you can combine fresh rhubarb with other autumn fruits to create mouth-watering desserts such as rhubarb, apple and blackberry crumble.
Livingstone yields an excellent crop of high quality, deep red skinned stems throughout the autumn months. It’s very easy to grow – simply incorporate some bone meal or organic matter when planting and once established it’ll crop heavily from September onwards.
Supplied in 9cm potted plants, upon receipt plant out immediately and look forward to a bumper harvest next September.
NB. Rhubarb leaves are poisonous and must be removed completely from the stalks before these are cooked.
